The Glacier

The Glacier is an explosive environmental adventure and tragedy that begins with three young boys growing up in California's Sacramento Valley.

With pastimes such as baseball and panning for gold nuggets in nearby rivers, the boys one day discover a mother lode of gold in a culvert beneath the entrance to the city park after a massive storm. Excited by their discovery, they devise a plan to recover the gold after dark.

Eventually, they graduate from high school and go their separate ways, only to be reunited years later as adults for another ambitious venture.

Jim becomes a geologist and joins an oil corporation exploring new drilling prospects. Along with a crew of scientists and a bodyguard, he is sent to central Alaska to research a pristine valley recently exposed by a receding glacier.

What they find is nothing short of astonishing: the mummified remains of a record-sized woolly mammoth, two Clovis hunters, and tributaries and creeks lined with gold nuggets. However, the terms of their contract require them to take nothing except soil samples and geological data documenting what lies beneath the ground.

After returning to his office, Jim becomes consumed by gold fever. He contacts his two childhood friends to discuss a plan to recover the gold.

Travis is now a decorated Middle East war veteran and helicopter pilot. Bob has become a store manager for Home Depot in Sacramento. The three friends rendezvous in Elko, Nevada, where Travis operates heavy equipment at a massive gold mine.

There, they develop a plan to return to the gold-laden valley and glacier in Alaska.

The result is a horrific and tragic mining war, as news of the discovery quickly spreads to others with the same ambitions. Together, the three men depart for Alaska.

Only two of them return alive.
