THE HOAX
With a rapidly expanding virus labeled ZIKA, over 4,600 new babies were born in Brazil with microcephaly, resulting in a distorted pointed skull and learning disability. The public was told the origin and the cause was mosquitoes. It wasn't. Marco Ramos, a high school graduate and honor student with a GPA of 4.0, qualified for a government program which provided funds for college education in the U.S.A., Great Britain, or Canada. The only obligation was to pay back the people of the country by serving Brazil for one year in the field of their studies and where they were needed most. Marco earned his degree in Ecology and Environmental Science at University of California Davis and returned to Brazil to serve his obligation. With many geographic regions to choose from, he chose the one where he was most needed, the dangerous state of Para to the north, on the Amazon River. There, he worked with worldwide environmental groups who challenged the illegal deforestation and logging camps , miners, palm oil farmers, livestock ranches, all of whom were operating illegally on the lands of indigenous jungle tribes, One by one, Marco witnessed his comrades being killed by either the perpetrators of these illegal activities, deadly attacks by jaguars, river drownings, poison tipped arrows, or by some of the most venomous snakes on the planet. The Brazilian government was profiting by kickbacks from the big corporations responsible for the devastation and murder of tribes, and turned a deaf ear to the pleas of the ecology groups. The only department with the government which did not profit was the Department of Environmental, which evolved to become detached from government corruption. His time in office was short for Minister Renaldo Estero, the head of that office. Marco Ramos was caught in the middle, and would soon realize he was supported by no one. He was alarmingly on his own, and the situation was becoming extremely dangerous. His only chance was to organize a resistance from the people of Brazil.
MORE SOUTHERN THAN MOST
More Southern Than Most is a romantic comedy beach read with a setting in Biloxi, Mississippi. Charlie DiAugostino, a songwriter and guitarist becomes disenchanted with the west coast scene after performing there for over a decade and decides to exit...stage left, to the Gulf coast, having spent his youth growing up in Florida. During an audition at a local bar/restaurant in Biloxi, MS, he not only gets the gig, but hits it off with the lovely bartender about his age, originally from Bogata, Columbia, Aurora Lopez da Haro, known locally as Brandy because the locals and regulars could not say her real name without hurting themselves. After dating awhile they make a commitment to each other and decide to buy and flip an old house built in 1927, just down the road in Gulfport, MS for $20,000. It doesn't take them long to discover that they are the only white residents in the neighborhood, but that didn't matter. With a forest adjoining the property, they are frequently visited by two wild animals who are constantly in and out of the house and under foot. Eventually, they had a pet door installed so they could come and go as they wished. They named the female red fox Charlotte, and the male raccoon, Bandit. The outrageous mischief and adventures of this “family” results in gut busting laughter and wonderful entertainment.
